Community Dietitian - Home Enteral Feeding Learning Disabilities
Role Introduction
Leeds Community Healthcare (LCH) is excited to expand our Home Enteral Feeding (HEF) service. We are recruiting for two full-time (1.0 WTE / 37.5 hrs) permanent Band 6 Specialist Learning Disabilities Enteral Feeding Dietitians. We welcome applications from those seeking full-time hours, or part-time/job-share arrangements.
These specialist roles are based within our friendly, multidisciplinary team at Parkside Community Health Centre. You will focus on providing high-quality, person-centred nutritional care to adults with learning disabilities who require enteral nutrition. Our team embraces hybrid working and maintains strong links with the wider LCH Adult and Children’s dietetic services, offering excellent networking and clinical supervision opportunities. You will manage a dedicated caseload of adults predominantly with learning disabilities (LD) and some non LD, requiring home enteral feeding. This role requires a compassionate, adaptable approach to meet the complex needs of patients with diverse physical and cognitive requirements. You will conduct assessments and reviews in various settings, including family homes, supported living, and care homes, or via remote consultation.
Key aspects of the role:
- Specialist LD Care: Tailoring nutritional plans to support patients with complex communication needs, sensory processing differences, and physical disabilities.
- Dietetic Caseload Management: Troubleshooting patient/carer queries via telephone, triaging urgency, and prioritising a specialist workload.
- Collaborative Working: Close liaison with LD multidisciplinary teams, social care providers, and the contracted feed company.
- Prescribing Authority: Utilizing the 'Off FP10' approach, giving you direct rights for managing enteral feeds and equipment.
- Clinical Governance: Contributing to the development of LD-specific enteral feeding protocols and pathways.
- Leadership & Education: Providing supervision to assisting staff, peer support, and student training, alongside delivering education to carers and health professionals on LD-specific nutritional needs.
