Role Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 7 IPC Specialist position in the Infection prevention and Control Team at Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust (LCH). If you are an IPC nurse or practitioner, preferably with experience of working in a community setting and looking to develop existing leadership skills, this post offers a great opportunity.

Community IPC in Leeds provides an exciting chance to work in a diverse setting where there is plenty of variety on a day-to-day basis. We are a friendly team with a broad range of skills and experience, supporting health and care professionals and the people of Leeds. Our team works not only throughout LCH, but the wider healthcare economy in partnership with Leeds City Council public health team. We work with partners throughout the system to ensure that safe, effective care is provided to the people of Leeds, and that preventative measures are in place to reduce the transmission of preventable healthcare associated infections.

Main duties of the job:

You will be a key player in our IPC agenda and work in collaboration with teams across the organisation ensuring robust IPC measures and governance processes are in place and embedded in practice. You will contribute to the development of a quality, proactive and evidence-based IPC service, to prevent and reduce the incidence of infections and implement improvements to enhance patient and staff safety across the organization.

The successful candidate will:

•    Be responsible for providing specialist Infection Prevention & Control advice and support to staff and teams working across our services and the wider community.

•    Act as an advisor and advocate, disseminating specialist skills and knowledge to staff, patients and visitors, always being accessible and acting as a role model.

•    Contribute to the daily organisation of the service. The ability to manage your own workload is essential for this role.

•   Provide supportive line management to colleagues in line with our organisational values.

The post will be based at Chapeltown Health Centre; however, post holders will be expected to work throughout the city as required, therefore being a car driver is essential.
