Role Introduction

We are pleased to advertise this post consisting of 0.5 WTE Clinical Team Manager post and 0.5 WTE clinical specialist post.

The Speech and Swallowing Team is a community team that works closely alongside a range of professionals to deliver a service to adults with communication and/or swallowing needs. We work with adults city-wide across Leeds in a variety of settings according to patient need. Excellent professional links exist with Speech and Language Therapy colleagues within Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, ensuring many opportunities for clinical and professional development.  Leeds Community Healthcare has a strong commitment to continuing professional development, structured through clinical supervision, appraisal and personal development planning. We have recently redesigned our service to better reflect our evidence-based priorities for clinical intervention and are ready for the next step in implementing the new pathways.

For further details / informal visits contact: Helen Knight, clinical head of service on h.knight@nhs.net or 0113 843 3126

As Clinical Team Manager you will have responsibility for ensuring that the Speech and Swallowing Team service is safe, effective and evidence- based. You will lead the team in developing pathways of care and be creative in meeting the clinical opportunities involved in interfacing with other health and social care teams in Leeds to best meet the needs of our patients.

We are looking for someone with at least 5 years clinical experience in managing a range of communication and dysphagia needs in adult community settings. You should have an understanding and enthusiasm for community work, Leeds Community Healthcare values and our team ethos.  Additionally, you should have experience of supervising or mentoring other registered clinicians, and a drive to enable continuous professional development and service improvement.

As a clinical specialist, you will be jointly responsible for management and delivery of the Speech and Swallowing Discharge Team. This small team operates independently from the main team and provides a brief, rapid response home-visit service to neurology patients referred directly from our acute hospital based SLT colleague. You will hold a shared caseload of patients with complex swallowing and communication needs.

We welcome applications for both fulltime and part-time hours. However, the successful candidate for the Clinical Team Manager role must also hold a clinical caseload within the team.
