Role Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity to grow our team and are looking to appoint a Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of the mainstream offer in schools and community clinics across Leeds. You will be working across the city supporting children, young people and their families as well as school staff. You will provide assessments, interventions, coaching and modelling sessions for children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication needs (SLCN).  You will work within a team comprising of other Speech and Language Therapists (SLTS), Specialist SLT’s, SLT Assistants and Technical Instructors. 

 

We have both a full-time permanent position (37.5 hours) and a part time permanent position (30 hours). A car driver is essential for these city-wide roles. You will be expected to complete your RCSLT competencies within 18 months of starting.

You will work with pre-school and school aged children with Speech, Language and Communication needs (SLCN). This post will involve direct work with children and families to assess and develop the child's communication skills. You would be working alongside practitioners such as Teachers, Teaching Assistant and Health Visitors in mainstream settings as well as working closely with parents/ carers in a community clinics /school. You will be provided with a mentor and a supportive mentorship programme including 121 and group meetings to guide and support you through the RCSLT competency framework to becoming an independent practitioner
